Senseless Thugs Terrorizing Gambians

I listened to Bai Lowe’s (member of Jammeh’s gang of murderers) interview on the Freedom Newspaper/Radio and I have one point to make - And it is that Bai Lowe did not tell us anything new. He confirmed what we already know and have been saying about Jammeh’s atrocities.

With that said, people like Bai Lowe are accomplices to murder and should be prosecuted if we are going to end the nonsense that is going on back home.

It is my opinion that Bai Lowe willingly elected to be a driver in Jammeh’s murder squad.  If he truly objected to being part of a unit that indiscriminately murdered innocent Gambians, Bai Lowe would have quit the army and absconded to Senegal.  Of course, opinions will be divided on this matter. But my opinion is cemented by Bai Lowe’s cold lack of response when Pa Nderry asked him to address and apologize to the families of the victims.

Now that he has confessed, families of the victims should unite with the purpose of bringing justice to their lost loved ones.  After sixteen years of associating with these thugs and being mute about their atrocities, Bai Lowe is now telling Gambians that his only role was driving the bandits to murder innocent Gambians.  Even if his pronouncements are true, his long held silence on the matter (until Jammeh started calling for his head) is a more unforgivable act than him driving the thugs to their missions.

Along with Bai Lowe, all those who were part of Jammeh’s terror cells in the Gambia and are now amongst us in the diaspora should be referred to the international courts to be prosecuted.  We need to end impunity in the Gambia.  It is imperative we send a clear message that those who kill and maim or aid to kill and maim our people will feel the full force of the law once we get our chance.  No amount of character laundering is going to absolve people like Bai Lowe from murder.   It is because of their actions that families have no closure about the whereabouts of their loved ones.   An example must be made of these ruthless thugs.

  1. I do agree that he's not necessarily telling us anything new, but he has confirmed what most suspected and some couldn't bring themselves to believe about Jammeh; getting us away from speculation and closer to firsthand testimony/evidence; which is all very important. It's now going to be much harder for Jammeh's blind followers to defend him. I'd like to see Isatou Njie Saidy try to explain this away..

On Lowe's end, I, too, noticed the lack of remorse when Pa Nderry asked him to apologize to the families of the victims. Maybe a coping mechanism? I don't know. However, i'd maintain that he could've chosen to remain quiet like so many others and not have to EVER face public backlash or any future legal prosecution. You make excellent points but vilifying him right now is not in the interest of our fight for it will only deter others from whistleblowing..
